The history of padel

In 1960 , in Mexico , Enrique Corcuera , a wealthy businessman and tennis enthusiast, had too small a court to play his favorite sport. He then built walls around the field and used rackets made of flat wooden bats. This new game mode is appreciated by his family. A close friend visited him and developed a passion for this sport, which he took with him to Spain. The popularity of padel will increase, until a study is undertaken to define the correct dimensions of the court and the rules of the game.

The first courts were built at the Marbella Club , where meetings with tennis players resulted in the organization of the first padel tournament on the Costa Del Sol . Millionaires, attracted by this craze for padel, attend these tournaments and bring this sport back to Argentina . Since then, it has become the most practiced and popular sport in the country, with millions of players in the 2000s .

The World Padel Tour

It was founded in 2012 and began organizing tournaments from 2013 in Spain , extending over the years to several countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, the United States, Belgium, France, Finland and the United Arab Emirates . Having become an event anchored in history, this tournament continues to make itself known and contributes to popularizing padel in France.

The A1 Padel Tour

Formerly ATP Padel Tour , was launched by the Monte Carlo International Sports , led by Monegasque businessman Fabrice Pastor, in 2020 with the aim of improving the level of competition in America . Attractive prices and superb infrastructure accompany this now very popular event.

The FIP

Founded in Madrid in 1991, today it is one of the largest events, with the participation of more than 130 countries, more than 25 million active players and more than 500,000 federated players . The FIP aims to unite the world of padel in this promising competition, a passion of the president which he wishes to transmit to players who do not yet know this sport.

Padel tournaments and competitions have undergone remarkable evolution since their beginnings. Today, padel is much more than just a racket game; it's a passionate global community that continues to grow and develop, with tournaments held in many countries.
